Amy Dahm Huh, Viola
Dr. Amy Dahm Huh is a versatile performer, recognized as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator with living composers, as well as enthusiastic educator. She has been featured in venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Spain Zaragoza Auditorium, Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Space, Fukuoka Acros Hall, Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, Beijing Forbidden City Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Seoul Arts Center, the United Nations Headquarters, and the South Korean Embassy. In 2015 and 2020, her Starry Duo violin-viola ensemble released two albums worldwide.
Dahm collaborated with members of the 9 time Grammy winning Emerson Quartet, Brooklyn Rider, Muir Quartet, and many prominent artists. She is a cultural advocate bridging East and West, and participate in different projects promoting Asian composers to audience in United States and Europe. She was invited to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland where she presented the concert “Korean Poetry,” collaborating with a Korean traditional vocalist. Recently, she premiered compositions by five different Asian living female composers at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Asia International Symposium & Festival, and Korean Composers Festival. She also participated in a series of chamber music concerts held in Kronberg, Germany, Marseille, France, as well as Antwerp, Belgium.
She has been featured on television, in magazines and newspapers worldwide, including the New York Korea Times, Hong Kong Times, Spain Lavanguardia, KBS TV, EBS TV, Arirang TV, The Strad magazine, String and Bow magazine, and Korean Daily News. Her performance highlights as a soloist include New York Classical Symphony Orchestra, Sofia State Symphony Orchestra, Duxbury Festival Orchestra, Il san Symphony Orchestra, and La Fuse Players Orchestra.
Dr. Huh delivered presentations and conducted masterclasses, as well as performing recitals as a guest artist in University of Colorado Boulder, Colorado State University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Florida College, Central Washington University, University of Kansas, and St. Olaf College. Additionally, universities in Korea, including Hongik University, Konkuk University, Yonsei University, Kookmin University, Anyang University, Hannam University, invited her as a special lecturer, on topics of ‘How Music Connects Us Across Cultures’, ‘The Role of the Artist in Society and the Entrepreneurial Mindset.’, ‘Digital Storytelling Through Music’, Aesthetic Differences in Western and Korean Composition, and ‘Music and Cultural Identity.’
Dahm currently serves as the artistic director at the New York Artists Guild in New York, and coordinate four annual chamber music concerts at the Lincoln Center. She serves as the principal violist at Bergen Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey, as well as the violist in Starry Duo. She holds degrees from Yonsei University, Mannes School of Music, Boston University and Stony Brook University's Doctoral program.
She is an adjunct professor at Wagner College, and faculty at St. Thomas Choir School and Northern Academy of the Arts. Along with her love of music, she has a strong dedication to charity work, especially for children and seniors who are physically or mentally challenged. As the Music Director at EnoB, Charity Organization, Dahm arranges and performs in various benefit concerts for hospitals, children’s outreach centers, and cancer centers in New York City, as well as participating charity concerts in the United States, Spain, South Korea, and the Philippines.
